I note, with some amusement, two different “squibs” on page 56 of last Wednesday’s Nashua Telegraph, evening edition.

The first article relates to our beloved governor’s campaign to “Keep the Christ In Christmas Day”.  In his infinite wisdom, somehow the term “Xmas” to him detracts from the true meaning of the Christmas season.

However, if one travels down toward the lower right corner of the same page in the “Now You Know” squib, one reads “The term Xmas” for Christmas derives from the early Christian use of the Greek letter “Chi” … printed as the letter “X” … the first letter in the name of Christ in Greek!

One would hope that our beloved chief executive would sometime, in the near future, begin to spend a little more time dealing with the cold realities facing the State of New Hampshire and spend less time running assorted flags up and down the flag pole at the State house; traveling in such a manner that one might assume him to be looking for a position on the Conservative Party’s 1980 ticket; or as in the case mentioned above, trying to become the moral conscious for New Hampshire’s citizens.
