“Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile”

Albert Einstein

As with his other campaign mistruths, Donald Trump’s claims Georgia Governor Brian Kemp hadn’t been able to reach President Joe Biden to discuss Hurricane Helene’s impacts on his state and Federal agencies were, “going out of their way to not help people in Republican areas,” are both insulting and utterly dishonest.

President Biden had spoken to the governors of all four states impacted by Helene while thousands of dedicated and caring employees of federal, state and local agencies were already deploying every available resource to assist people affected by the hurricane … NEVER questioning any of those victims about their party affiliation, immigration status, religion or candidates they plan to support in November.

Similarly, thousands of caring and compassionate everyday Americans throughout and beyond the devastated communities impacted by the storm continue to turn out to provide food, clothing and other essentials goods an services, often even risking their own lives to save and help others … again, NEVER asking about their politics.

While grandstanding politicians try to score political points from the tragedies affecting others, the overwhelming majority of Americans have always and continue to demonstrate when emergencies arise, the only thing that matters is find ways to help others, whether neighbors or total strangers!

Perhaps more politicians should emulate the unselfish actions of those whose votes they are seeking rather than trying to sow the seeds of a fear of and divisiveness between them or distrust of their government.
