“I won’t insult your intelligence by suggesting that you really believe what you just said.”

William F. Buckley Jr.

Many Americans passionately believe parents should have the ultimate say in:

  1. their children’s medical care, including what vaccines their children receive and on what schedules;
  2. in controlling the historical, scientific, social and religious-based educational information their children are exposed to in their classrooms; and
  3. what books are available in school and public libraries

Yet, too often they are the quickest to deny other parents similar rights who want their children:

  1. diagnosed with serious medical conditions such as gender dysphoria to have access to appropriate puberty-blocking or other drug treatments;
  2. to receive a comprehensive exposure to:
    1. our nation’s unvarnished history, its founding ideals, the Constitution and why it became the global model for democratic institutions, individual liberties, and economic prosperity;
    2. contemporary issues such as racism, gender identity themes, climate change, reproductive rights, evolution and international events from differing political, social or religious viewpoints;
    3. while not ignoring our nation’s darker sides with respect to the treatment of African and Native Americans, immigrants and other minorities;
  3. to enjoy easy access to age-appropriate, controversial books, believing banning them is antithetical to a free society and never acceptable.

In order for freedom to prosper, individuals must have respect for and not interfere with the speech and values of others with whom they disagree!
